Earth Day - 2010: 40th Earth Day

Earth Day 2010 will start with ‘The World People’s Conference’ on Climate Change, to be held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and with the International Year of Biodiversity. It is our responsibility that we have to do some constructive work on the Earth Day 2010 to our planet. We have to grow more and more trees to make green Earth which are the only sources to save us and our future.

We are facing some problems like climate change, big earthquakes and recently seen the Iceland volcano activity. We never forget that the nature is the super power and we all are helpless and nothing against it.

Earth Day has been formally observed in April since 1970. U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson had founded Earth Day on 22nd April, 1970. For the Earth’s environment, Earth day is designed to inspire alertness and admiration. Earth day is observed in 175 countries in every year. The passage of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act are connected with the Earth Day. The Earth week is celebrated between 16th April and 22nd April.

Some people celebrate Earth Day on the 1st day of spring i.e. on the vernal equinox, around 21st March, while some celebrate on 22nd April, but the purpose of the day is to inspire admiration for the earth’s environment and alertness of matters that intimidate it. There are many quotes and slogans related with the Earth Day. One of the best is “Every day is Earth Day”.

SNS College of Engineering with immense pride celebrated its 3^rd Annual Day function ‘COMMUNAL- 2010’ on 01.03.2010 at the college campus. Marabin Maindhan Thiru. M. Muthaiah, the Editor - Namadhu Nambikai & Rasanai was invited as the chief guest and the function was presided over by the Chairman Dr. S.N. Subramaniam.

Dr. S.Rajalakshmi, Correspondent, SNS Institutions, lighted the kuthuvilakku and initiated the function. Dr.Venugopal, H.O.D In-Charge, Dept. of MBA welcomed the gathering.

Dr. G. Karuppusami, the Principal, in his Annual Report proudly displayed the achievements of SNSCE in 2009 - 2010. During the inauguration address the chief guest Marabin Maindhan Thiru. M. Muthaiah, gave a well-informed speech to students about how to improve oneself both academically and psychologically. The Administrative Officer Prof. R. Natarajan, felicitated the function.

Later, the function got liven up by the excellent performance of our students. Afterwards, prizes were distributed to the staff members those who have produced 100% pass in their theory paper and to the students those who have ranked first, second and third in their subjects. To finish, Mr. Ramesh, Lecturer, Dept. of English expressed the vote of thanks.

The well-spent day came to an end with the great principle that the adventures of SNS College of Engineering will get continued in future as well.

Dr. S.Rajalakshmi, Correspondent, SNSCE, lighted the kuthuvilaku and Dr. G. Karuppusami, Principal, SNSCE welcomed the gathering. Dr. T. Kannadasan, Vice Chancellor, Anna University, CBE, inaugurated the function and released the ‘Free School Management Software’.

Ms. B. Balagangadevi IPS, DIG of CBE, delivered the Keynote address, Mr. N. Karthik, Deputy Mayor, Coimbatore, conveyed his special address and greeted SNSCE for its great innovative work ‘School Management Software’. Then these software CDs were distributed to the school teachers by which they will soon be able to record all the details of their students’ academic performance. Cash Prize and a memento to our System Administrator Mr. R. Mylsamy and a memento to Ms. R. Subathra Asst. Prof \ IT were given for creating this software in a very successful manner. Certificates of Appreciation and Merit to staff and students were also distributed by the college Chairman and the Vice Chancellor. Dr.V.S.Velusamy, Founder Trustee, SNS Institutions, felicitated the function and this magnificent function came to an end after the vote of thanks by Prof. R. Natarajan, Administrative Officer, SNSCE.

Dr.M.Natraj, World Carrom Champion, Senior Superintendent in Air India, Coimbatore hoisted the National flag, Dr.S.N.Subbramanian, Chairman hoisted the Olympic flag, Dr.G.Karuppusami, Principal hoisted the College flag and it was followed by the march past of our athletes. Dr.G.Karuppusami welcomed the gathering, Dr.S.N.Subbramanian delivered the Presidential address, and the chief guest Dr.M.Natraj opened the Mascot of III Annual Sports day and delivered the Special address. In order to enlighten the day, athletic and cultural events were also took place.

The Institution has the habitude of encouraging the incipient sportsperson. This year Ms.POURSELVI, a school student, good in playing carrom, was called and honored with an award called TENZING NORGAY MEMORIAL AWARD. Dr.S.N.Subbramanian, chairman presented the award to Ms.POURSELVI as a sign of motivation.
III Annual Sports report was presented by Mr.E.Balaji, Director of Physical Education SNSCE, later the prizes were distributed to the winners and runners, for both staff and students, for their best participation in different competitions. Students were divided into six houses namely Abinav Bindra, Dhanraj Pillai, Leander Paes, Sachin, Sania Mirza, Saina Nahwal and competitions were conducted among those houses, and in that Dhanraj Pillai house won the overall championship.
Latterly, Mr.E.Balaji, Director of Physical Education SNSCE, thanked all and the function got end up with the National Anthem.

With great honour and immense joy, chief guest’s Mr. N.Valliappan, Co-Founder & Director- EZ Vidya Private Limited, Ms.Sujaya Rao Regional Manager, Souther India, NEN global, Chennai and other dignitaries of SNS was welcomed to the Diaz.

Nothing starts well and nothing ends well without the blessings of the Lord Almighty so, we started our function with a prayer song. Ms.Sujaya Rao and other dignitaries of the day lighted the Kuthuvilakku.

Our chief guest Mr. N. Valliappan and our special guest Ms. Sujaya Rao installed the office bearers by taking the pledge on the basis of ED cell, followed Mrs.R.Saradamani, ED cell convenor, short listed the activities which will be performed in the ED cell.

Our Prof. L. Venkatesan, SNS School of Management, introduced the chief guest Mr. N.Valliappan, Co-founder & Director- EZ Vidya private limited to deliver the inaugural address.

He is an young achiever, rising entrepreneur, who strongly believes that “A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds”.This makes him to be a successful entrepreneur in the society where competition matters.

Our special guest Ms.Sujaya Rao Regional Manager, Souther India, NEN global, Chennai, was introduced by Mr.Ashok, president, ED cell her video on the presentation and her speech was inspired by all, which made the session an interactive one.

She also signed the MOU for our college with NEN which was the biggest pride of this function.

Finally, the function was ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs.R.Subathra, ED cell, convener.

Road Safety Awareness Rally

Road Safety Awareness Rally was jointly organized by SNS College of Engineering and the Kovilpalayam Police Department on 8th Jan 2010. The Principal Dr.G.Karuppusami, SNS College of Engineering started the rally from Kurumbapalayam by waving the green flag. Nearly four hundred energetic and enthusiastic students and staff members from SNS College of Engineering participated in the rally. They raised slogans on road safety awareness for 2 Kms starting from Kurumbapalayam to Kovilpalayam. The rally was concluded by giving refreshments to the participants.

‘Meet the Software Professional’ program organized on 19th Dec 2009

We invited Mr. Suresh, an NRI settled in California, USA for the last 15 years for the program, ‘Meet the Software Professional’. He delivered a speech on ‘Current status of software industry’ and shared his experience at ‘CISCO, USA’ as a project leader for the past one and half decades.

He answered an array of questions from our students for about one and half hours at the venue during the interactive session. Our Principal invited the chief-guest and our Administrative Officer Prof. R. Natarajan delivered the vote of thanks.

Our Principal, Dr. G. Karuppusami addressed the devotees of Sri Anumantharayan temple, Sirumugai on 19th Dec 2009.

இவ்விழாவில் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக வணக்கத்திற்குரிய கோவை மாநகர மேயர் திரு.ஆர்.வெங்கடாசலம் அவர்கள் மற்றும் மரியாதைக்குரிய கோவை மாநகர துணை மேயர் திரு.நா.கார்த்திக் அவர்கள் ஆகியோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். விழாவானது தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்துடன் இனிதே துவங்கியது. விழாவிற்கு வருகை புரிந்த அனைவரையும் நாட்டு நலப்பணித்திட்ட அலுவலர் திரு.ஆர்.பிரபாகரன் அவர்கள் வரவேற்று பேசினார். அவரைத்தொடர்ந்து கல்லூரியின் தாளாளர் முனைவர் திரு.எஸ்.என்.சுப்பிரமணியன் அவர்கள் விழாவிற்கு தலைமையேற்று உரையாற்றினர். பின்னர் கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் முனைவர்.திரு.கு.கருப்புசாமி அவர்கள் முன்னிலையேற்று பேசினார். சிறப்புவிருந்தினர்களை தமிழ்மன்றத்தலைவர் திரு.கே.கார்த்திகேயன் அவர்கள் அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்.

அடுத்துகோவை மாநகர மேயர் அவர்கள் லோட்டஸ் கண் மருத்துவமனையின் இலவசகண் மருத்துவமுகாமினை துவக்கிவைத்து உரையாற்றினார்.

The DESPOTZ’09(Absolute Rulers), a National Level Technical Symposium was conducted by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of SNS College of Engineering on 5th November 2009.

It encourages the youthful potential engineering brains from all over the country together and come out with constructive ideas towards technical excellence.It is an arena where the students can share their innovative ideas by presenting various technical papers on emerging areas like VLSI, Embedded Systems, Nano Technology ,Biomedical Engineering ,RF ID, Networking etc.

The best twenty six papers were selected for presentation. Other events like Circuit Debugging ,Technical Quiz and Marketing were conducted to the DESPOTZ participants of various college .

Valedictory function began with prayer at 3.00 pm.The Executive Member of DESPOTZ’09 welcomed the gathering.

The principal Dr.G.karuppusami gave the presidential address.
Prof.S.Baskar, Department of Mechanical Engineering from KCT,Coimbatore gave a inspiring speech about the function and distributed the prizes to the winners of various events.

The gathering was felicitated by Prof. R.Natarajan, Administrative officer, SNSCE and Mrs.T.Kowsalya, Head of the Department, Electronics and Communication Engineering proposed a formal vote of thanks.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of SNS College of Engineering inaugurated first association function on 4th November 2009 at 9.30 am . Mr.D.Satyamoorty, CEO, Thaksha Enterprises IT Solution, Coimbatore lightened the kuthuvilaku to begin the function. The Executive member, DESPOTZ’09 welcomed the gathering.
Mr.D.Satyamoorty gave the inaugural address,in that speech he dipped the students in ocean of knowledge. He also honored the chairman Dr.S.N.Subramanian for receiving the outstanding performance award from the Institute of Engineers (India).

On 31st October, Laurels’ club organized a program exclusively for their Laurels.

The staff members, who attended mission 10x workshop during 22nd of September to 26th of September, earnestly organized a Faculty Development Program in the college campus on 31st October 2009.

Initially, Dr.G Karuppusamy, the Principal bestowed a presentation on ‘Teaching and Learning Strategies’.

Soon after, Dr.Rathna Devi.K presented a presentation on ‘How to make the class more interactive’.

Afterwards, Mrs. Subathra, conducted activities, where every staff participated with great willingness and interest.

The day meant for FDP was much informative for the staff members, in upgrading their knowledge in the field of teaching.

On behalf of the Laurels’ club of the staff members of SNS College of Engineering, there held a programme on 13.10.2009, to honor the Chairman of SNS Group of Institutions Dr.S.N. Subbramanian, who received an ‘Outstanding Performance Award’ from the Institution of Engineers, India and it was also been arranged to greet the newly married faculty members and the staff members who celebrated their birthdays recently.

Prof. R.Jagadeesan welcomed the gathering. A Documentary film on the Biography of Dr.S.N.Subbramanian was shown. Dr.V.S.Velusamy, Founder Trustee, SNS Group of Institutions, Dr. G. Karuppusami, Principal, S.N.S. College of Engineering, Prof. R.Natarajan, Administrative Officer and all the Head of the departments felicitated the Chairman.
Dr.S.N.Subbramanian addressed the gathering and specified how he attained success.
Later on gifts to the Faculty members were distributed by Dr.S.N.Subbramanian and Dr.S.Rajalakshmi. Prof. K.Periakaruppan proposed the vote of thanks.
The Programme arrangement was done by the Faculty club Secretary, Treasurer and Joint Secretaries along with the co-operation of the other Teaching and Non-teaching Staff members.

The School of Management of SNS College of Engineering had organized “Meet the CEO” with Mr.Ravi Jagannnathan, Managing Director and CEO-3i Infotech Consumer Service Ltd., Bangalore, an interaction programmme for the MBA students on 25/9/2009.

Principal Dr.G.Karuppusami welcomed the gathering. Dr.S.N.Subbramanian, Chairman, SNS Group of institutions gave the presidential address. In his address, he stressed on the aspect of Quality by giving explanation for the word QUALITY. ‘Q’ stands for quest for excellence, ‘U’ stands for understanding the concept, ’A’ for analyzing, ‘L’ for learners centric, ‘I’ for innovative, ‘T’ for training for building up competencies, ‘Y’ for year out programmes. He also pointed out that CEO should have vision, understand about all the stakeholders, and he should be a regular reader of daily trends. Becoming a CEO is easy, but until and otherwise he possess the qualities he cannot excel in his position.

The CEO, Mr.Ravi Jagannathan in his interaction with the students, focused on the qualities of a CEO.

Quality need not be certified by anybody else, but it should come in our day to day life. He pointed out that vision of an organization should be achievable, understandable, and communicable with all its stakeholders.

He answered for the question who is a CEO? As a person one who is able to communicate the vision of an organization to all in an understandable manner. He has to make sure that corporate governance is completely practiced in his organization.

According to him quality is nothing but “Corporate Governance”. He also said that a person will be moulded once he is involved in his work.

“A person who does not possess MBA degree can also become a CEO, but the qualification in the management will help in a bigger way along with his soft skills.

As for as commitment is concerned, commitment from an individual will help the organization to grow along with his personal growth.

While interviewing a MBA candidate for an employment, his “Strategic thinking ability and People management techniques” are to be assessed rather than other skills.

Prof.E.Venugopal, Head of the Department proposed the vote of thanks for the gathering.

BUSINEX ASSOCIATION - INAUGURATION

The School of Management of SNS College of Engineering inaugurated the BUSINEX ASSOCIATION on 23rd September 2009 at 10 am. Dr.S.Rajalakshmi Correspondent of SNS Institutions lightened the kuthuvilaku to begin the function. The Head of the department Prof.E.Venugopal welcomed the gathering.

The Association was inaugurated by Dr.John Joseph Alappat, Director South Indian Bank. In his inaugural address he tried to pose the message for the management students regarding the scope and opportunities existing in the globalized competitive world. The future managerial people are going to face the tough time and they have to be ready to mould themselves to face challenges.

He also honored the Chairman Dr.S.N.Subbramanian for receiving the OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AWARD from the Institute of Engineers (India).

To honor the legendry of SNS Institutions, a documentary on his biography has been presented by the Businex Association.

Chairman in his speech enlightened the audience with his personal experience and focused on “Selecting a Role model”.

The term Role model first appeared by the scientist Robert k. Mathews in the specialization research of medical schools. He advised the students to compare themselves with the reference rules with one who occupies the social roles, and to consider only the positive qualities of their role model. Role models are important as they enforce the person to become what he wants and inspire to make differences to choose the wise things we need to make the best things.

Principal Dr. G. Karuppusami gave the presidential address, the gathering was felicitated by Dr. V. S. Velusamy, Founder Trusty and the secretary of Businex Association V. Sivakumar proposed a formal vote of thanks.

FEEDBACKS OF SENIOR STUDENTS
II & III year students came frontward to state concerning their views about the institution’s infrastructure facilities and how they get and enjoy their studies in the campus.

CULTURAL CLASSICAL DANCE
After the feedback, students enlighted the function by their mind blowing performance in Dancing. Indian Classical Dance is so immensely rich in divine values that it really deserves to be called a “Sadhana”, a way to God-experience. Students of SNSCE made the audience to feel the God-experience through their classical dances.

‘Thanking’ - measured to be one of the best qualities of humanism. Mrs. Vijayalakshmi thanked the guests of the day and the function got end up with the National Anthem.

SNSCE staff’s “Laurels Club” was inaugurated on 18th August 2009, by Dr.N.S.Balaji, Consultant-Upper GI and Bar iatric surgeon, GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore.

Dr.G.Karuppusami, Principal, welcomed the gathering and the epoch of the club was presided over by our chairman Dr.S.N.Subramaniam.

After felicitation an allocation on obesity & swine flu delivered by the chieftain invitee.

In his oration, he gave information on body fat percentage, its effects on health – causes for obesity like Diet, Genetics & Sedentary life style.

Aftermath, he interacted with the staff of Laurels Club and offered elucidation to the congregation.

We are proud to announce that SNSCE conducted one week ‘Value added courses’ for the benefit of III BE / B.Tech students from 20th July 2009 to 24th July 2009. Following is the brief report.

Training in Aptitude skills (Session 1):

The training in aptitude skills development was conducted by Mr.Murali, Mr.Mariappan, Ms.Angel, & Mr.Shiva kumar of “Innovative Academy for Manpower Excellence” (IAME), Chennai. The sessions helped our students to acquire knowledge and as well as to understand their inherent capacity to achieve at a certain level. The training removed fear phobia of the students in attending the competency tests.
Soft Skills training (Session 2):
The Soft skills training were given by Ms.Dhanalakshmi, Mr.Vijay anand, Mr.Venkata Raghulan, Mr.Rajesh Kumar, Ms.Suganya & Mr.Vimal Kumar of “FACE Academy”, Coimbatore. The sessions helped the students to shape their Emotional Intelligence Quotient which plays an important role in placement. It complemented their technical skills.

Technical skills development (Session 3):
The technical skills development sessions were handled by the “Precision Informatics”, Coimbatore. The CSE & IT students were trained on ‘LINUX Installation’ at labs. The ECE students attended classes on the topic ‘VLSI’ and the EEE students were trained in ‘Embedded systems’.

SNS College of Engineering, the institution committed to produce Engineers with high calibre and professionalism, celebrated its 2nd annual day on 9th April, 2009.

Dr.K.A.CHINNARAJU, Director, Dept of Management of Science and Research, Coimbatore Institute of Management, kindly accepted our invitation to be our Chief Guest and graced the occasion with his presence.

With the spirit of Thanks giving to the Almighty, we began our program with prayer song. Our Correspondent Dr.S.Rajalakshmi, along with the Dignitaries, lights the Kuthuvilzakku, the flame of glory, honour and challenge.

Professor, Head of the Department Science and Humanities, Dr.R.Venkataramanan with his exhilarating words welcomed the gathering.

Our beloved Principal, composed and efficient captain, Dr.G.Karuppusami, impressed everyone in the gathering with his amazing multimedia annual report 2008-09. Achievers were brought out into limelight to motivate the students.

Our Managing Director, a dynamic leader, an inspirator, Dr.S.N.Subbramanian gave the presidential address.
The guest of honors Dr.K.A.CHINNARAJU, with his friendly and next door person talk enthralled the gathering with fables; he insisted that the students should bring pride to the institution, not only as technocrats but also as wonderful citizens. He rekindled the spirit of competency with tips of how to compute in this fast pacing world with the mantra “Change, Adapt and Grow”.

The achievers were awarded by the dignitaries.

The morning session came to an end with vote of thanks given by our Administrative Officer Professor R.Natarajan.

The long awaited afternoon cultural session started with great enthusiasm and energy. The first score was classical dance Bharathanatium.

Fusion dance with colorful costumes were an energy booster for the gathering. Skits with themes like ‘unity is strength’ stole the show with great applause. The competency and the grace demonstrated by our students brought everyone to the edge of enjoyment.

This session end with an announcement of an extra day holiday which was a bonus to the students. Altogether this was an enjoyable and honorable day for our students to reminisce in their later years.

SNS college of Engineering celebrated the II Annual Sports day on 27.02.2009 at the college ground.

The function started with prayer song. Mr.R.Chakaravarthy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime west, Coimbatore city hoisted the National flag, Dr.S.N.Subbramanian, Chairman hoisted the Olympic flag, Dr.G.Karuppusami, Principal hoisted the College flag and it was followed by the march past of our athletes. In order to enlight the day, athletic and cultural events were also took place.

Dr.G.Karuppusami welcomed the gathering, Dr.S.N.Subbramanian delivered the Presidential address, and the chief guest Mr.R.Chakaravarthy opened the Mascot of II Annual Sports day and delivered the Special address.

The Institution has the habitude of encouraging the incipient sportsperson. This year Master. JA GIREMAN was called and honoured with a award called DHYANCHAND MEMORIAL AWARD. Dr.S.Rajalakshmi, Correspondent presented the award to Master. JA GIREMAN as a sign of motivation.

II Annual Sports report was presented by Mr.E.Balaji, Director of Physical Education SNSCE, later the prizes were distributed to the winners and runners, for both staff and students, for their best participation in different competitions. ESCORTS HOUSE (the students of CSE) won the overall championship. At the end Mr.E.Balaji, Director of Physical Education SNSCE, thanked all and the function got end up with the National Anthem.

EUS Orientation programme was conducted by Bureau of Indian Standards partnered with SIEMA in our college on 24th Nov’2008. The motto of the programme was to inculcate awareness on Standards for Engineering Industries among students. The function was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr.S.N.Subbramanian. Dr.G.Karuppusami, principal of the college, welcomed the gathering and gave an introduction about the programme.
Shri.Varghese Joy, Director and Head of BIS, CBE, explain the objectives of the programme. He provided an overview of standardization, quality and the importance of the standards in engineering industries. Then special address was given by Dr.S.N.Subbramanian.
Shri.Jayakumar Ramdass, President, SIEMA, elaborated on the standards for industry. He explained how the standardization has enabled us to compete in the world market. The students were encouraged to have the four letter “slogan”: PDCA – Plan, Do, Check and Act to bring out their creative abilities.
This was followed by an elaborate account of how standards have been implemented in industries by Smt. G.Bhavani, Deputy Director, BIS. Her powerpoint presentation gave an insight to the importance of standards and created an awareness about how to look for instructions on the products.
After hearty refreshment, the technical session went on interestingly with interactive workshop. The Director, BIS tapped students inquisitive energy with simple questions like, “Why the three pin plug has got one pin longer than the other two?” Students actively participated to these down to earth questions and it lasted for an hour. Smt. Jessy Benny, Joint Director, BIS, started her speech with a lot of questions which made students came out with enthusiastic answers. It enabled the students to know more about the idea behind the formation of standards and product codes.
This programme was closed with vote of thanks by Prof.T.A.Selvan, Mechnical Engineering. Overall the programme was educative and enlightened the students with the knowledge of the importance of standards in industries.

The function started with our chief guest Dr.S.RAMANATHAN lighting the lamp. The Welcome Address was given by Dr.V.GOVINDARAJU, the HOD of MBA department. Our Honored Principal Dr.G.KARUPPUSAMI gave the Principal Address. Our esteemed Chairman Dr.S.N.SUBBRAMANIAN presided over the function. Dr.S.RAMANATHAN Professor and Director, School of Management Studies, Anna University had been invited to be the Chief Guest of our Inaugural function.

We conducted many events in which students from various colleges participated. The events are,

We received 110 papers for the presentation. From that 14 papers were selected for the presentation.

The students who participated showed great enthusiasm and out of 16 papers presented 4 won prizes. Two papers each were selected from CSE/IT department and ECE/EEE department.

Independence Day celebrations @ SNSCE

The 61st Independence Day was celebrated with all grandeur and joy over the country and so was the (Second) Independence Day celebrations at SNSCE.

The talkative SAJJAD KHAN.H (EEE) was rightly the MoC for the function. The function started with the assembly of students and prayer. After the prayer, Mr.Vignesh.M of II-CSE welcomed the gathering and it was followed by flag hosting by our Administrative Officer Prof.R.Natarajan. The Independence Day Parade Committee headed by SURENDAR.U (II - ECE) (comprising of students from all the Departments) then marched past bestowing honour of the day to our Administrative Officer. Our Administrative Officer gave a Independence Day address. The students performed a very beautiful and grand cultural event demonstrating the importance of our national flag. The Session started with speech of our Principal Dr.G.Karuppusami, who shared glorious moments over the topic “Goal Setting and Execution”. He enriched the gathering with latest information for the faculty’s development.

Next session commenced with Prof.T.A.Selvan, HOD of Mechanical Department with the topic “Teaching Learning Process in Defence Engineering College at Ethiopia”.
He shared the glad moments of his experience about teaching in Ethiopia that was really impressive.
A Speech on “Patenting of Engineering Products” was given by Ms.M.Geethapriya, HOD of ECE Department in the third session included the general information about the Copyright, Trademark, Patent which is very essential to every Professional and Individual.
Final session ended with delightful speech of Mr.Pon.Rathnavel (Former Lecturer of Mechanical Department) on “Framing a Teaching-Learning Process” for the present education. It was a crispy moments for the lecturers to understand younger student generation’s expectation.

Dr.SNS ignites SSS

29 June 2008 would be a remarkable date for futurologists as fifteen engineering students doing their third and fourth year turned CEO they come together to launch their respective companies as subsidiaries under the aegis of the Students Software Solutions to be run wholly by students themselves. SSS was started by Anmol Vij, an engineering student, some time ago as a natural successor to CUG which we had covered in the previous blogs. Under this, each CEO will employ 25-40 students of their choice and depute them to work on the projects. They will devote roughly three hours everyday. The fifteen CEO and their colleges are Anmol Vij, R. Vivek, and S. Srinivasan(Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology), K. Ajay Naveen (Coimbatore Institute of Technology), N. Alagendran, (Karpagam College of Engineering), V. Ashyanth(PSG College of Technology) Ashish Vij(SNS College of Technology) A.P. Sathish (SNS College of Engineering) S.N.Dilipkumar(Tamil Nadu College of Engineering) G. Mugundha, Robin Tyagi ( College of Engineering and Technology), Nivedita Murugan (Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham) Radhasubramanian(Vellore Institute of Technology) D. Saranya (Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College) and K. Arun Prakash (Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology)

The formal launch of the companies took place at Hotel Mangala International on 29.06.2008 and suitably the companies chose Dr.S.N.Subramaniam, Chairman, SNS Group of Institutions as their Chief Guest. Dr.SNS provided the needed inspiration and ignition at the start of such a promising event. In his special address, Dr.SNS firstly congratulated and appreciated the entire team and the founder chairman Anmol Vij. He expressed his pride and happiness to be a part of such a noble venture. He highlighted the importance and value of entreprenuership in making India a superpower. He told the audience that entreprenuership beckons creativity, taking calculated risks and dedication and mentioned that these CEOs have them in surplus. He drew parallels from entreprenuers and visionaries like Dhirubhai Ambani. S.Narayanamoorthy and Dr.Abdul Kalam to motivate the gathering. He said this is the first time in the history of any country in the world, such a venture took place. He also expressed his astonishment on thinking what this young audience who can do this at their 20s do in their 60s. He said the SSS motivated SNS and not the vice versa. He once again departed with a wish that SSS becomes a multi billion dollar company. His time bound speech made the audience spell bound. Mr.Murli Mohan, Mr.Siddique and Dr.V.P.Arunachalam also spoke during the occassion.

It was also a special occassion for SNSCE as it was also one of the colleges under this enterprising endeavour. In fact, SNSCE is the only college started in the current academic year in the list of these 15 elite colleges. A.P.Sathish, a first year IT student is the CEO of PROTECH, a subsidiary of SSS formed by 35 students of SNSCE. The students of CSE & IT departments of SNSCE are a part of this project. Dhanya at the peak of the pack

Dhanya (CSE) struck a reverberation with the Indian cricket team. After finishing second best in most of the tests, she finally got into the top groove and at that too at the top occassion - First Semester Examination. R.Dhanya topped the college and of course her class with a GPA of 9.6. She was succeeded by department mate R.Rakesh, our regular topper who managed a GPA of 9.4. Rakesh was closely followed by another mate B.Vaishnavi, whose 9.3 made a hatrick for CSE.

Yamini (9.2) (ECE) who was steadily competing in the race for toppers reaped rich dividends when she managed to become the ECE topper and hold the 4th rank in the college. She was followed by P.Dhivya of CSE (9.1) whose progress has been the pride of SNSCE. P.Dhivya, a rural Tamil medium student showed hard work and steady progress and emerged into the list of toppers in the Model Examination. Her entry into the list of toppers in the Semester Examinations shows that her success was no flash in the pan. The regular toppers complete the list with Prem Gokull and Surayya emerging the toppers of IT and EEE respectively. Swadhini, Alamelu, Nancy Mary, Saranyaa Devi, Preethiya (all ECE), Lavanya (IT) and Vignesh (EEE) make up the numbers for the top ten.

Our Principal Dr.G.Karuppuswami met the students in person and complimented them on their performance while driving home the fact that "Success was a journey and not a destination"

National Science Day observed at SNSCE

February 28 is celebrated as National Science Day in India to commemorate the Nobel Prize awarded to Sir.C.V.Raman. SNS College of Engineering embarked to observe National Science Day through a debate.

“Science without Humanity” is one of the seven social sins proclaimed by Mahatma Gandhiji. However the rapid development of science forces the society to strike a compromise with the values of humanity. In this juncture, the National Science Day 2008 proved an ideal platform for the SNSCE students to debate on the topic “Does Science destroys Moral Values?” Prof.R.Natarajan, HoD, Department of Science and Humanities moderated the lively debate. The team of D.Krishnanand, Jyothish.M.Peter, Annie Ratna Priya and Buma Dharsiny were of the view that Science does not kill human values. Their nemesis was the team of P.Nirmala, T.Vanathi, N.Muthu Ezhilarasan and K.Rajbharath. An august gathering of about 60 students from all departments of SNSCE eagerly followed the debate. The organizing committee comprised of Mr.Pon.Rathnavel , Lecturer – Mechanical Engineering and students Ms.K.Alamelu and Mr.S.M.Ramesh(both ECE).

Prof.R.Natarajan welcomed the gathering and participants for the debate and elucidated on the importance and legend of the National Science Day. He also briefly explained the baseline of the topic and invited views from the participants. D.Krishnanand (I EEE) opened up the debate. He mentioned that he was unable to configure how people can imagine of science destroying moral values. He followed it up with examples of how science can enhance the moral values in day to day lives. However his class mate P.Nirmala (I EEE) ran through the same list of examples on how science could destroy moral values. This had the audience in splits. She ended up quoting Einstein “Lets make things simple. Not Simpler” and said that since Science was so simple, morality became an easy target. Jyothish M. Peter (I CSE) with his valiant voice and deft diction made strong points for the cause of science not destroying human values. He was equally combated by the enthusiastic T. Vanathi (I ECE) who was firm that the current generation is suffering from too much of science. Annie Ratna Priya (I CSE) drew parallels from India in the 1960s and India in the 2010s and explained how science made things easier for human beings in the gap of 50 years. N. Muthu Ezhilarasan (I IT) then brought in the issue of development Vs environment and quoted a series of environmental issues to argue and augur his case. The final speakers for both sides V.Bumadharsiny (I IT) and K. Rajbharath (I ECE) hottened up the debate. They both threw pointers at each other and reiterated in such force that enthused the audience who kept cheering for both of them. Their arguments took rapid strides and the moderator Prof.R.Natarajan had to bring the house down to order a couple of times.

Prof.R.Natarajan resumed his speech after all the participants and firstly applauded the participants. He explained that he kept science out of the discussion by arranging it in a simple hall devoid of any sound systems and LCDs. He mentioned that science was inevitable to the humanity. However when kept in a scale with morality, science should take a back seat. He emphasized the audience to always keep morality high and never let it down in the sake of promoting science. He quoted points from all the speakers and concluded that science and morality should be in complete harmony and there should be no case of each destroying the others. The verdict was well received by the audience and they were very happy to be a part of such an intriguing and informative debate on the lovely occasion.

ECE pips EEE for Cricket Championship

It was literally a nail biting match as Vigneshnathan(EEE) and Ramesh(ECE) were biting them for most of the time. EEE under the captainship of Vigneshnathan got most things correct but his opposite number Jeyamohan got things correct just when needed and crusied ahead in this great cricket match.

EEE won the toss and preferred to chase the target. The openers Jeyamohan and Ramesh fell cheaply, the former to a run out and the latter to an over ambitious pull shot. Murugesan also did not last long. However Senthamil Sakthivel and Manoj played steadily. The scoreboard got ticking thanks to the duo and some insipid bowling by Vignesh and Elavarshan, who together contributed more than 20 extras. Subash brought in his leg spinners and after being hit for a couple of fours got Manoj and Doora in the next two balls. Thirupathy succumbed in the next over (caught beautifully by Anandraj) and so did Senthamil. EEE gathered the much needed momentum and soon sent Naveen and Anandakumar thanks to the medium pace of the short duo of Anand and Vignesh. Suddenly 81/3 became 88/9. Velmurugan and Prashanth batted patiently and helped the team reach 100. But it was all over in 18.4 overs and ECE was bowled out for 107.

In the half time, Vigneshnathan sounded optimistic and was sure that his batsmen would deliver the goods. Jeyamohan said that he was prepared for the EEE batsman and gave his team a chance with his bowling strength. Vigneshnathan and Anandraj opened the batting for EEE as Ramesh and Jeyamohan opened the bowling also for ECE. Things were going pretty smooth for EEE till the last ball of the 6th over. Ramesh who tried hard was finally rewarded when Vigneshnathan hooked a full toss to fine leg, where Prashanth held a stunner in his left hand. Velmurugan's next over turned to be more than productive as he had Anandraj and Elavarashan in successive deliveries. While Murugesan held the catch of the tournament covering more than 20 metres on the wrong side and grasping it with a dive, Thirupathy showed great reflexes to take a quickie. The fourth wicket partnership worked for the EEE department as well. Dhanush and Mithun with their contrasting styles plundered the ECE bowling attack. Mithun in particular was merciless and hit five successive boundaries in a span of two overs. The battle seemed over, but ECE guys were catching beautifully. Manoj who came up with slow medium forced Dhanush to edge a delivery which was snapped by Doora in a sniff. Manoj then took a stunner at cover to get rid of Mithun. Saravana Kumar was mankaded a couple of balls later and suddenly the match seemed wide open. However with 12 runs needed from 36 balls and 4 wickets in hand, not many gave ECE a chance. But Ananda Kumar who was bowling a wide per two balls produced a beautiful over where he docked the stumps of T.K.Viknesh and Ashok in a space of two deliveries. Suddenly there was a momentum shift and in the next over Velmurugan castled Karthik. There were nervous moments for the last wicket pair of Subash and Vignesh, but Manoj produced a beauty of a delivery to breach Subash's defence.

If you expected delirium, it wasnt to happen. Though the ECE were in delight and EEE in despair, they controlled the emotions and shook hands in true sportsmanship. D.Saravanamoorthy, our PD expressed that this spirit of sportsmanship was the high point of the game. He also commended the catching of ECE, the fielding of Dhanush and the all round abilities of Manoj and Mithun.

One of the enjoyable aspects of the game was the commentary of our Lecturer Pon. Rathnavel, a freelance commentator and columnist. He had the audience in splits with his humorous digs on the proceedings and there was times when even the players bursted out.

Nonetheless it was a fitting finale to the games segment of our inaugural Sports Day. With this win, ECE also emerged the top team pipping CSE by five points.

SNSCE @ Kovai Marathon 2008

Kovai Marathon is slowly becoming a regular annual event in the Coimbatore calendar and Kovai Marathon 2008 was more dazzling and receptive than ever. Kovai Marathon 2008 organised by Tamil Nadu Atheletic Association jointly with Aircel and Environmental Cell Division, PWD recorded 945 participants and thereby made a new record. The event was a grand spectacle on Sunday, February 03 2008 and SNSCE is proud that it made a small contribution towards the success of the event.

SNSCE played two roles with respect to Kovai Marathon 2008. Exactly 32 students of SNSCE were a part of this race and a half a dozen volunteer team performed with elan the most critical of the jobs.

A six member volunteer team comprising of Pon.Rathnavel - Lecturer, D.Saravanamoorthy - Physical Director, P.Gopalakrishnan - Office Assistant and students Sajjad Khan, S.Vignesh, V.Lawrence (all EEE) was bestowed with the responsibility of providing the marathon runners with bun, egg and water at the end of the race and collect their numbers. The team planned well, organised better and executed to their best and had no single participant waiting. They responded to the participants even before they could send an eye signal. Even when there was a thronging crowd, the team was fitting to the task and avoided any hiccupps or contrevorsies. The organisers had a special praise for the volunteers team during the valedictory ceremony.

SNSCE was perhaps the only engineering institute with more than 10 participants. There were 32 students interested to go the distance(15 kilometres) and all of them were first time runners. P.Raja of ECE was very unlucky as he finished the race in 15th place, five below the prize margin. He was followed by S.Ramachandran(ECE), N.Gopinath (EEE), G.Vivek (EEE), K.Prakash (EEE), M.Vignesh (CSE), L.Maikannan (CSE), S.M.Ramesh (ECE), J.Arun Kumar (ECE) and A.P.Sathish (IT) all of whom finished within the top 50.

Predictably, Pudhukottai Sports Clubs made a clean sweep in the competetion. The chief coach of the Kavinadu Atheletic Association Mr.Loganathan whose club won a record 24 prizes happened to be a coach of our Physical Director Mr.D.Saravanamoorthy. A renowned person in the field of atheletics coaching, Mr.Loganathan spent some ten minutes with the boys and gave them valuable tips on preparing for track events.

Later the participants and volunteers worked in tandem with the authorities to disperse the flagpoles and flags and earned special appreciation from one and all. It was hard work for the students and volunteers from 05.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs and when you taught these people were off to a well deserved rest - they were getting ready to trail a blaze for the intramural cricket finals, which was to start at 14.00 hrs.

EEE snatch the Ball Badminton Honours

The EEE guys won their first title thanks to a combination of skill and strategy. The EEE guys seemed to be in a different league in this game and seemed to have a ball.

The semifinals saw EEE pitted against ECE. After accomplishing an unbeatable lead easily in both the sets, EEE allowed complacency to creep in. However they managed to come back without much damage to trounce ECE in straight sets 28-10,28-12. The second semifinal was a close affair with CSE and IT fighting it out to the end. In both the sets, CSE suddenly snatched from the half way mark and scored 10 points in succession. Anbarasan proved to be a major force as he slammed on the empty places. The final result unfolded 28-14, 28-13 in CSE's favour.

The first set in the finals was upbeat with both sides contesting hard. In fact, CSE went to snatch the lead 10-4. But the cool head of Vignesh and Subash complimented by some power hitting by Vigneshnathan and Lawrence saw the EEE in full vigour. They went on to snatch the first set 28-16. Buoyed by the success, they simply outplayed CSE in all aspects of the game to snatch the second set 28-2. A comprehensive and cohesive display saw the EEE walk out in flying colours.

Thirumurgan & Karthikaa are the Chess Champs

It was Thirumurugan's week as he took everyone by surprise - his class, his opponents and everyone in SNSCE. A slow learner in academics, he created a furore when he represented his class for the Chess Tournament. But he delivered an equally stunning performance to beat Krishnakumar of I CSE. On the other hand, crowd favourite Velmurugan of I ECE had an easy outing against the over cautious MG Ravichandran of I IT. The final clash of the Murugans' was an absorbing contest. When you thought Vel had an edge over Thiru, the latter bounced in from nowhere with a surprising move that left Vel stunned. In another 5 minutes, Thiru stunned one and all with a checkmate.

In the girls side, the final was a real roller coaster. Dhanya of I CSE and Kaarthika of I ECE expectedly made it to finals making short work of Nazimul Zafira(I IT) and Gowthami (I EEE) respectively. The final was labelled the battle of intellects and for most of the time in finals, Dhanya ruled the roost but a poor move cost her he queen and thereby the match. Karthikaa ensured that she made Dhanya's mistake count.

The competition was a reminder of the fact that if you made the right moves you would definetely win.

Republic Day @ SNSCE

The 59th Republic Day was celebrated with pomp and grandeur all over the country and so was the (first) Republic Day celebrations at SNSCE. The function was optional for the students and faculty members but that did not stop a jostling crowd gathered to commemorate and celebrate the spirit of Indian Republic. The organising comittee comprising of our Physical Director D.Saravanamoorthy, Office Assistant P.Gopal and Student R.Britty(EEE) took care that everything was planned well and thereby went well.

The talkative R.S.Pradeepraj (ECE) was rightly the MoC for the function. The function started with the assembly of students and prayer. After the prayer, our Principal Dr.G.Karuppuswami hoisted the national flag as per customs. The girl students wonderfully rendered the Flag song in chorus. The Republic Day Parade Committee headed by Vyshak (IT) (comprising of students from all the Departments) then marched past bestowing honour of the day to our Principal. Our Principal gave a key note address highlighting the achievements of our country in the past and in the present. He also formulated a list of things India could well achieve by 2020 and urged students to work towards the occassion. The address was well received by the students. The function ended with the National Anthem after which the students posed in groups in the backdrop of the national flag.

CSE enters the winning list finally

Their boys may have finished unlucky finalists twice. But their girls were simply "spot on" during their first outing in the intramural tournaments. CSE Girls ably guided by their captain Subhashree literally outvollyed their competitors in the Volleyball Tournament for girls. One of the CSE boys interpreted that the boys were satisifed with silvers and as girls are girls only gold would do for them. Humour apart, CSE gave a good account of themselves and possessed good serving skills of Subhasree and had an extremely agile Divya in the front.

The intramural volleyball tournament was the first for girl students and the first match saw IT and ECE girls vying against each other. The IT girls had to fight it out in an engrossing battle which they won largely thanks to their captain Zafira who could serve nothing but aces. In the another match, EEE girls were caught sleeping on strategy at the start of the game which proved costly as CSE girls sailed through.

The finals was more of an even contest but CSE girls had things going on steadily for them and the win seemed inevitable. Enjoying the largest population of girl students, the CSE had the maximum cheering and the cheers only grew louder towards the end. The finals was graced by the presence of Mr.S.Ravichandran, Physical Director, SNSCT who also gave a pep talk to both the teams.

SNSCE XI at CECRI

The Sachins, Yuvrajs, Dravids and Dhonis of SNS College of Engineering are off for their first outside venture. They are one of the 32 teams registered for the CFE Bi Decennial Twenty20 cricket tournament to be held between January 18 - January 20,2008 at CECRI CaMPUS, Karaikudi.

The team will be captained by L.Maikannan of CSE Department who set the ground ablaze with his knock of 63 from 36 balls in the intramural tournament. His ally would be C.Manoj of ECE Department who is a good tactician and a reliale wicket keeper. The team also features the likes of hard hitting Muthu Ezhilarasan(IT), the more than useful allrounder Jeyamohan(ECE) and the canny operator Pradeepraj(ECE) in the ranks. The team has a good line up of batsman and bowlers and most importantly unity and intensity. They will be coached and managed by Mr.D.Saravanamoorthy, PD, SNSCE.

The schedule pitts them against Under 22 Trichy team in the round of 32 and the defending champions (if they go through) to the round of 16. To add to the non flip side, the players were busy with University Exams and Pongal Holidays that deprived them of any practice. However the team set off in a confident mood to Karaikudi. Mr.Saravanamoorthy said "Of course, we have a lot of things against us. But we are bothered about looking ahead and not looking behind."

Exams give way to Pongal

The Anna University Terminal Examinations finally came to an end on Sunday, 13 January 2008. The final examination was "Basics of Civil and Mechanical Engineering" incidentally came with a tampered question paper format and a few questions seemed out of the blue. However the students exuded confidence and claimed that they had done well. The students surprisingly did not get needlessly perturbed by the consequences of the examinations and immediately rubbed into the festive mood. The normal glued looks and heated exchanges on the questions and answers were replaced by warm wishes of Happy Pongal. They seemed to be in a great hurry to wish one and all and immediately pack their bags for a trip to home.

Overall the students were pleased with the examinations. They rated Engineering Mathematics as the toughest of the papers and Technical English the best one. They were pretty happy with the remaining four theory papers as well.

The college has declared Pongal Holidays from 14 January 2008 to 20 January 2008 and will re-open on Monday, 21 January 2008 for the second semester. The planning has been more meticulous for the second semester and neccessary arrangements were made in advance. On this occassion, SNS College of Engineering greets one and all to have a happy time during the harvest festival of Pongal. Happy Pongal

Infospectrum - a spectrum of possibilities has reflected a colourful ray of possibilites to the MBA students and final year students of Anna University, Coimbatore. The leading training institute has signed an MoU with Anna University, Coimbatore to offer its training services to the students of Anna University for a rockbottom price of Rs.25000 compared to the regular charges of Rs.60,000.

A function was organised at The Residency on Jan 10th to brief the affiliated colleges about the programme. The programme opened up with Dr.S.Ramanathan, Director - Management Studies breifing the slew of innovative offerings from the University and the importance of the particular MoU.

It was followed by the VC Dr.R.Radhakrishnan who stressed the need to move forward in educational alliance and set an example for other Universities. He informed that MBA students would be trained in System Application Product (SAP) in Data Processing Business One software crucial to manage a Small and Medium Industry (SME), by Infospectrum, with the University providing the infrastructure. He emphasised that this programme was only the starting point in a slew of academic alliances.

Cal Kailasam, Vice-President, Infospectrum, Chennai, was of the view that there will be a great demand for SAP Bone consultants in the future. He mentioned that the course was tailor made for the final and pre-final year MBA, MCA, B.E., B. Tech, M. Sc., B.Sc., M.E and M. Tech students to kickstart a wonderful career.

Rohit Bhalla, Director, SAP Education India, said that the programme would attract a talented student pool and also Information Technology Companies when they came for campus interviews. He presented the modus operandi of the programme, its objectives and advantages. He also demonstrated the position of InfoSpectrum in the SAP industry and a few operations in SAP software.

At the fag end of the programme, feedback was sought from the colleges. After answering the queries of the faculty members on the programme, the alliance of Info Spectrum hosted the gathering to a sumptous lunch.

SNSCE was represented by the dynamic duo of Mr.Pon.Rathnavel - Incharge Online Communications and Mr.R.Mylsamy, System Administrator. SNSCE with its superior computing facilities offered to host the programme for the candidates of this region.

A Makeover for Engineering Graphics at Dr.MCET

The Anna University has given the traditional Engineering graphics a mordern and a pragmatic look. Dr.R.Radhakrishnan, the Vice Chancellor claimed that Anna University was the first to dispense with the drawing boards and embrace drafting and modelling software inaugrating an one day seminar organised for the (proposed) teachers of the (II Semester) common subject "Engineering Graphics" held at Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology(Dr.MCET) on Saturday, January 05 2008.

Dr.Radhakrishnan spoke of his ambitious and innovative ventures to bridge the industry - academic gap and also about a few issues pertaning to faculty members and technical institutions. He stressed on the innovations carried out in the paper Engineering Graphics and on how manual drafting was replaced by free hand sketching and CAD. After the inauguration, there were technical sessions on "Engineering Curves" "Engineering Solids" and "2D Drafting" pertaining to the syllabus handled wonderfully by Dr.Calvin.S.King and Mr.Rajashekar of Dr.MCET. The post lunch session saw a demonstration of the software "Solid Drawings Editor" and "Solid Works" by the CADD Centre. The session gave way to an hour long hands on skill training programme of the faculty members.The host institution had also provided the participants with a hard and soft copy of the presentations along with free demo software of "Solid Works" in a compliment kit.

Off the 75 and odd participants, SNS College of Engineering was represented by Mr.Pon.Rathnavel. He was all praise for the excellent organising skills and hospitality extended by the host institution - Dr.Mahalingam College of Technology. He also felt that the seminar helped him to meet his old colleagues and friends and also to touch base with the other institutions.

It is IT in football

The English game went well for the American market would not be a bad phrase as the IT students expectedly topped one and all to clinch the Intramurals football trophy. The team powered by the Captain Prabhu who also happens to be the captain of the college team, the well built Muthu, the tall and lanky pair of Vyshak, & Chandru had indeed an easy outing.

The first semifinal saw the IT pitted against EEE. IT who was a strong favourite had to contend with some innovative strategy and good defence from underdogs EEE. It was only the 15th minute goal of R.Arunkumar that went in ITs favour and the result 1-0 wouldnt have made them happy. The second semi final between CSE and ECE was more than evenly poised as both sides had their own opportunities and threats. After an goalless draw even after extra time, all eyes turned to penalty corner. It was a disaster of sorts for ECE as CSE shot all the three while ECE missed all the three. The final result 3-0(penalty) did not indicate the close nature of the game.

The finals was a much awaited clash and IT was taken aback in the first five minutes. Maikannan seemed invincible as he beat the defence of IT in the 2nd and 6th minute to take CSE to a 2-0 lead straightaway. Prabu did some tough talking after the second goal and it seemed to have an immediate effect as Muthu shot one in the next minute. After that goal, IT displayed great vigour to score three more goals in the first half in 22(Vyshak), 26 (Muthu) and 27(Vyshak) respectively. There was no looking back for IT as they consolidated after this display. A goalless second half let open the gates to IT as they sealed the first football trophy 4-2.

Second Monthly Test Results Declared

The results of the First Monthly Test was declared today by the Dr.G.Karupuswami, Principal, SNSCE. The results were slightly fading in comparison with the performance in the previous test. But with a change in portions and pattern, it was expected.

The I IT students wrested the initiative from the EEE students and emerged toppers in class-wise pass percentages. There was change in the individual lists as well. As Mr.R.Rakesh of CSE Department regained the individual toppers position, it was all new faces. Mr.S.Vignesh, Ms.P.Saranya Devi and Ms.M.Sheela topscored for EEE, ECE and IT departments.

Though there was a slight fall in the number of toppers, there was a steady rise in the number of successful students. That is indicative of competition and competition is indicative of good times.

The Tests are over. Over to Diwali

The Second Monthly Tests finally came to a conclusion on 05th November 2007. It was extended by a day owing to torrential rainfall. The tests helped the students to re assess their preparations with heavier portions and a new question paper pattern. With the exam schedules and study plans coming to an end, the students are busy now with their travel plans and celebration schedules. The spirit of Diwali has caught the students and faculty. The college has declared Diwali Holidays from 07 November to 11 November. Happy Diwali
